With the continuing problems Covid is bringing to the world and the recent political instability, some British families may find themselves planning a family staycation in the UK. This has a lot going for it as the UK is blessed with some spectacular holiday destinations to choose from. The UK’s past history and splendid countryside provide plenty of attractions to keep the whole family entertained. Here are a few things to consider if you are planning a holiday within the UK this year.
Be Ready For The Weather
Before you head off make sure you check the weather forecast for your destination and pack suitable clothing. Taking time to pack a few wet weather essentials can make a big difference if we have the odd shower to deal with while on holiday.

Pre Plan Your Schedule
Bringing some structure to your holiday is a good idea. It gives everyone the chance to choose things to do that they like individually and helps the family holiday work cohesively. Keeping some flexibility can enable you to dodge any patches of rain or poor weather with indoor activities. Leave enough time to relax in between activities as this is a holiday you are planning and no one likes to feel rushed.
Prepare Your Car
If you are planning to use a vehicle to drive to your holiday destination it’s a great idea to make sure it’s well prepared and up to the task ahead. A breakdown recovery service membership is a good idea especially as you may be traveling further afield than you are used to. Make sure the car is within its service schedule and things like tires are in good condition. Checking your oil and water levels may seem like a chore but it can help to ensure you don’t face any transport issues on your holiday.
Covid?
Though restrictions have been lifted it is still a good idea to make sure you are prepared with antibacterial wipes and hand cleanser. Being up to scratch on our ability to quickly clean a new setting is something that brings peace of mind.
Bring Your Own Entertainment
With the prospect of a longer car journey than children are used to karma can be stretched without some good entertainment to keep everyone happy. Making sure this is covered will help everyone have a great time on holiday. Taking car and wall chargers for your and your children’s devices is a must. Downloading music and the odd audiobook can help with the journey as can a few traditional car games like number plate spotting.
Take A First Aid Kit
Being able to deal with the small accidents that can happen anywhere is almost more important on holiday as we may need to tackle things when we are out of our own accommodation. A first aid kit can be so useful in avoiding a small incident from becoming a bigger one.
