There is no denying – winter is on its way! The clocks have gone back, we’ve said goodbye to Halloween and it’s Fireworks Night in a couple of days. So whether you like it or not, winter is just around the corner and now is the time to get prepared. Here are some ways to stay motivated this winter:
Plan Your Days in Advance
Although you don’t need a stringent plan for every day, it is a good idea to plan your days and know what you want to get done – especially if it is something you want to do outdoors and you can check the weather. Knowing that you have a list of tasks that you want to do helps you feel motivated – because you’ll feel great ticking the boxes off throughout the day, aiming to get your tasks done.
Get Some Natural Daylight
Although the evenings are cold and dark, there is often an opportunity to get out in the sunshine during the day. Even if it is not sunny, getting out into the fresh air and natural sunlight will help you feel better. Force yourself out into the daylight helps you get in some exercise and benefit from natural daylight, which is always a good thing!
Ignore The Lack of Motivation
We read something online recently that talked about not always being motivated, but knowing you need to do it anyway. You won’t always feel motivated to get outside and exercise, go to the gym or even do the weekly supermarket shop. However, get those tasks on the list and recognise that whatever you want to do them or not, they need to be done. You might not feel motivated to get them done, but you’ll feel better once you get them ticked off of your list.
Be Easy on Yourself
As ever, go easy on yourself. It isn’t always possible to do everything, there will be tasks on your list every day that simply don’t get done. Don’t beat yourself up about this, recognise that you can’t do everything and just take care of yourself, always.
