What To Consider Before You Buy a New Puppy – The idea of a brand new puppy in the house is a lovely one, and something that many families would find fun and exciting. However, adding any animal to your family set-up is a big commitment and one that you should make sure you’re ready for. So, here is what to consider before you buy a new puppy.
What To Consider Before You Buy a New Puppy

Do You Have The Time?
A new puppy might seem cute, but they’re going to take up a lot of time. They get quite mischievous as they grow up and so you’ll need to have eyes everywhere. As well as training, feeding, walking and playing you’ll need to make sure you have the time in your busy schedule to have a puppy need your attention throughout the day.
Can You Dedicate Time To Training?
Even if you think you have time to love a puppy, are you willing to put time and effort into their training? It is best to start early with puppy training and socialising in order to get them started off on the right foot. It could even be worth considering puppy classes. Have a serious think about everything and make sure you’re willing to put in hard work with the training as well as the fun stuff.
What Will The House Set Up Look Like?
Before you bring a puppy home make sure you consider their living arrangements – where will their crate go, where will they sleep? Do you have a garden or do you need to consider how often they’ll be walked in order to potty train them? If you have a garden, is this secure? Do you need stair gates in order to keep the puppy secure in certain areas of the house?
Is The Whole Family On Board?
They may be small but a puppy is a pretty big addition to any house – make sure you speak to everyone in the house and that they are on board with an animal coming to live with you and share your space.
What About When They Grow Up?
Puppies are small and cute but they won#t stay small forever. Consider the size of your house and garden and how big your puppy will be when they are grown up.
