Easter is a lovely time of year that children look forward to too. If you are looking for ideas to entertain your kids this Easter, here are a few to start you off.
Decorate Some Eggs
This one is obvious and really good fun. Make sure if you use real eggs that you hard boil them first and allow them to cool. Use child-friendly paints, glue, glitters and ribbons to create traditional decorated eggs. If your children are younger, an egg can be quite small and more fun can be had by scaling up and simplifying things. Draw a large egg on sturdy A3 paper and find as many different textures and colours of decorating materials so your child can experiment with different ways of decorating their egg. If you are having a party this can provide a really great group activity by making one egg as a joint effort between children.
Go For An Easter Walk
Take time out with your children to go for a walk and see the beginnings of spring shoots and growth that bring the colour back to our countryside over summer. See how many different springtime flowers you can spot. A few treats and an Easter focused pack lunch complete with a small easter egg keeps things exciting for your children. Make sure you take drinks and dress appropriately for the weather.
Bake An Easter Cake
Children love baking so bring the Easter feeling home for them with a spot of easter inspired cake baking. You can choose to make one large cake or many smaller cupcakes. As generally the fun bit is decorating the cakes, don’t worry too much about making the cake, if it is easier, use a packet cake mix or if you do not have access to an oven, plain ready-made cakes can be decorated at home with an Easter theme. Use food colouring to make plain packet icing exciting, you only need a drop or two. Having some easter themed sprinkles and mini chocolate eggs will give the finishing touch and add a bit of Easter fun to your children’s day.
An Easter Themed Hunt
An easter themed hunt can be really exciting for children. You needn’t use eggs, but they will always be a favourite. If you want to bring a little awareness of the seasons and learning to the hunt. Choose items to find in your garden or the woods that show the turning of the seasons. New fresh leaves or different flowers. Have prizes for finding the items, this gives you a little more control over the amount of chocolate your child can get through this easter. You can have an indoor hunt if the weather isn’t with us. Hide treats and little gifts around the house with a clue sheet to their locations.
