How To Make Your House a Home

Whether you have just bought a new home or you’re moving into rented accommodation, you probably want to look at ways to make your house a home. After all, buildings are one thing but there’s something super special about feeling at home, content and happy where you live – Here are some tips.

Break The Rules

One of the most important things is to remember that it’s your home and no one else’s. We can all read up on interior style trends or be influenced by our friends, but at the end of the day we’re the only people that live there – so what we want goes. Of course, consulting with the other people that live with you about what they like might be an idea.

Do What You Love

We love the idea of everyone being able to have their bedroom exactly how they want. We probably all have a few standards when it comes to our living room and places that people may visit, but your bedroom should be your sanctuary and exactly how you want it to be. We recently were lucky enough to be gifted some artwork from Desenio and everyone being able to choose what they loved rather than what they thought they should love was a big deal for us.

Accept It’s Gradual

Remember that you won#t be able to do it all at once. Moving home whether renting or buying is expensive and so the chances of you being able to move in and make all the decor changes you want immediately are slim – but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. By living in your home for a bit first you can get a feel for it and this will help you when it comes to choosing things like wall art – as you’ll be able to pick things that match with the feeling of the house.

Your Tastes Will Change

Remember that home decor isn’t forever and that your tastes will change – and that is okay! Wall art is great for this because taking a photo down and replacing it with something else isn’t a massive deal, nor is it expensive – so you’ll be able to keep the style of your home up to date with your personal choices, no matter how often they change!
