There are always going to be times when we feel stressed out and that life is tough. It is perfectly normal to struggle through these times and not feel yourself whilst you are experiencing them. If you are going through a tough time, don’t beat yourself up about it. Instead, do what you can to work through the trickiness and concentrate on coming out the otherwise. Here are some ways to be calmer in 2022 – and beyond!
Tackle What Is Causing You Stress
It is all well and good looking at ways to be calmer, but ultimately if you are stressed about something that is real then this won’t go away on its own. One of the things that often cause us stress is the thought of tackling a problem or the worry that a problem will get worse. If you do want to be calmer then looking at what is causing you stress, how you can tackle this and what can be done to alleviate the problem is a big step towards feeling good. Look at practical ways that you can tackle issues that means that you have less to feel stressed about – it can seem daunting to start the process but you’ll feel much better once it’s done.
Work on What Makes You Feel Good
As well as working on what is causing you to feel stressed, work on what makes you feel good. Life is often busy which means that we don’t always have the time to dedicate to things that make us feel great, but it is certainly something that should not be neglected. So, if a walk around the block or a dance in your underwear in the bedroom makes you feel good, make sure that you make time for this as often as you can. We can often push things like this to one side and say that we don’t have enough time, or that we are simply too tired. However, if we don’t do this then we can end up feeling down and stressed. You deserve to feel good, so make sure you spend some time making that happen.
Seek Help if You Need It
As much as you can concentrate on doing what you can to feel better, it is often not possible to just quick-fix things yourself – and that is okay! We’d all seek help if we had a physical pain that was ongoing, so feeling stressed and down for long periods of time should definitely garner the same reaction. Seeking help from a professional can be a great way to get everything back on track – and you can be sure you’re getting unbiased and experienced advice. Although it can seem like a big step to seek private psychiatry help most people feel that they feel better once it is done. The hard part is actually booking the appointment and committing to speak to someone, but you can do it.
Concentrate on the Bigger Picture
Tackling things when you aren’t feeling 100% can seem stressful and daunting, so the important thing is to concentrate on the bigger picture and make sure that you understand what your long term goal is. Things won’t happen overnight, even if you do make changes straight away so concentrating on the bigger picture and recognising what life will be like when you have things sorted out can help to keep you motivated and that in itself can help you to feel calmer – a goal to aim towards often helps.
Go At Your Own Pace
Whether it’s a task you need to tackle at home, something you have been putting on and you want to do or something at work, getting stressed about not doing it fast enough is the last thi you want to happen. Instead, you need to go at a pace you are happy with – even if that means speaking to people to explain that you need more time. Getting worked up over deadlines you don’t think you will meet doesn’t do any good- instead take ownership and explain what you need and most of the time this can help with any stress levels and means that the job gets done with your timescales and everyone is happy.
