Real Readers gives you the chance to read and review the best in contemporary fiction and non-fiction books before they are published, comment on cover designs and feedback on specific topics to publishers.

This is how it works:

  • Tell us a bit about yourself, your reading habits and preferences and your online life
  • We will send you books carefully selected for your reading tastes, before they are published, so you can tell us – and the world – what you think
  • There will also be chances to get books for friends and family, attend exclusive author events and share your thoughts with authors and publishers
  • Please note that you must be resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland to take part

  1. Yavanna Evans Says:

I’m an avid reader and love all types of fiction. I veer between serious fiction, fantasy, horror and everything in between. I’d really love the opportunity to be a reader as I have a journalism degree and feel I could contribute with some valid feedback.

  2. Deirdre Says:

I read a lot of romance and fantasy and others and review them on my LibraryThing account here: http://www.librarything.com/rss/reviews/wyvernfriend I also review knitting and crochet books on my knitting blog here: http://wyvernfriendknits.blogspot.com/ I like a lot of variety but lean a lot towards light fiction rather than serious literature.

  3. Mary Baldwin Says:

I love reading and often have several books on the go, I am also teaching my son the joy of books. I mostly read crime, or historical fiction, but am a bit of a WWI nut so anything from that period will always appeal. I love words and writing and am part of a book club and also contribute to various forums and use facebook daily. Favourite authors currently include Sebastian Faulks and Stefan Zweig.

  4. Andrew Crouch Says:

I love to read potentially anything; just in the process of finishing Alone in Berlin. Kerouac is a favourite, as are the American surrealists, Kurt Vonnegut et al. I suppose I do enjoy American fiction a lot, adore Cormac McCarthy, Philip Roth, but I will read pretty much anything that is in front of me.

I studied for a BA in English & American Studies, and went on to an MA in 20th Century English Literature, and now, as a complete dichotomy, I work as a Painter & Decorator – hey, life’s an anachronism right?

  5. GILL CORBITT Says:

I am an avid reader with eclectic tastes….I enjoy the TV programmes advocating books, always read reviews in newspapers,(which often affect my choice of book!)
Both hubby (an avid reader too, especially of historical non-fiction|) and I would appreciate the chance to read and give feedback on a variety of types of book, fiction or non-fiction

  6. Helen Abbott Says:

I have been reading for over 60 years and cannot get enough of it. My favourite genre is crime and thrillers but not the blood -fests that many American authors produce. I like books that present a puzzle and which tell me something about the country in which they are set. My favourite authors are unlikely to be the current best sellers although I was on to Steig Larssen very early. I like Catherine Sansom and Philip Kerr along with C J Sansom. I hope that this gives you an idea of my tastes.

  7. Isobel WARREN Says:

I love reading and have very eclectic tastes. I am currently reading the Booker long list as a challenge but love crime fiction, psychological thrillers, historical novels and family sagas. I am a member of a reading group and would love to contribute to your site.

  8. Meg Kingston Says:

Hello. My name’s Meg and I’m a bookaholic.
My Hubby claims we had to move to a larger house to make room for the books. I think he’s joking.
I read mainly fiction: mainstream to scifi, horror, mystery, poetry, short stories and plays. My non-ficion interests start with many areas of science, but I love to learn new fields.

  9. Lynne McMahon Says:

At last count, when my partner finally in frustration counted,I have app 1000 books in the house!! Everywhere you go, whicheve room you choose, there books will be!! I read EVERYTHING. From crime, to science fiction, from fantasy, to travelogues, from Romance to historical, from horror well, you get the picture.

I am introducing my children to the joy of reading and trying, sometimes failiing, to keep them away from the Stephen King collection. I can and will give any genre a try out for size!! Otherwise, how can you possibly know what you do and don’t like!!
