Read an extract from Zombies

Zombies are making a big splash in our popular culture at the moment – and this frightening new contribution to the massively popular zombie resurgence will keep fans on the edge of their seats right up to the very end.

ZombiesThe year is 2011, and what starts as a pervasive and inexplicable illness ends up as a zombie infestation that devastates the world’s population. Taking the form of an illustrated journal found in the aftermath of the attack, this pulse-pounding, suspenseful tale of zombie apocalypse follows biologist Dr Robert Twombly as he flees from city to countryside and heads north to Canada, where – he hopes – the living dead will be slowed by the colder climate. Encountering scattered humans and scores of the infected along the way, he fills his notebook with graphic drawings of zombies and careful observations of their behaviour, along with terrifying tales of survival.

  1. Daniel E Says:

Hm. Not sure about that. I’m not sure I could read an entire faux-found manuscript of handwriting. “The publishers” should have typeset it. Yeah, I know that defeats the object…. Will need to see more of it to see whether it actually does anything particularly original, rather than just recounting the Romero-style plague in a novel format. Will it achieve any sort of depth (like The Walking Dead say), or enough in the way of thrills (like the best zombie movies, or games like Left 4 Dead).?

  2. Daniel E Says:

When I said “a novel format” I meant novel as in novelty, not novel as in book.
